      <image:title>Home - Let’s Talk About Your Pelvic Floor</image:title>
<image:caption>Bladder leaks. Painful periods. Pain with intimacy. And so many more health issues — many of which are attributed as a ‘rite of passage’ with being a woman, when really, they are signs of pelvic floor dysfunction. This dysfunction is completely treatable, but is more often than not ignored. Your pelvic floor muscles are the muscles responsible for bladder and bowel function, making intimacy enjoyable, supporting your pelvic organs, and are part of a comprehensive musculoskeletal unit involving your core, diaphragm, spine, and hips. As a result, dysfunction in these muscles can present itself in a wide variety of common health conditions.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Bladder Control.</image:title>
<image:caption>Urinary incontinence (bladder leaks), overactive bladder syndrome (feeling the urge ALL the time) and nocturia (getting up multiple times at night to pee) can be affected by pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder habits, and lifestyle habits. Addressing bladder control can consist of addressing underlying pelvic floor dysfunction, analyzing and adjusting fluid intake, and an individualized bladder retraining routine.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Pain with Intimacy.</image:title>
<image:caption>Dyspareunia (pain associated with intercourse, but also pain with diva cup or tampon use) can be caused by increased tension in the pelvic floor, skin sensitivities, scarring, and a sensitized nervous system. This can often be addressed with an individualized pelvic floor downtraining program, skincare and scar care, and desensitizing the central nervous system.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Perinatal Care.</image:title>
<image:caption>Individualized pelvic floor muscle training is the gold standard of care both during and after pregnancy. Appropriate pelvic floor training (NOT just kegels), has been shown to aid with pregnancy-related low back/hip pain, reduce the risk of tearing, shorter labour periods, reduce the risk of urinary symptoms pre/postpartum and help with recovery postpartum. Sessions involve everything from individualized pelvic floor training, to birthing positions, to breathing techniques.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Lumbopelvic Pain.</image:title>
<image:caption>Your pelvic floor muscles act as a support basket for your spine and your pelvis. Issues with the pelvic floor can often lead to pain in the low back, hips, and tailbone. Address underlying pelvic floor dysfunction in a dynamic and holistic individualized movement program.</image:caption>

      <image:title>About Me - Nice to meet you!</image:title>
<image:caption>My name is Jasmine Choi. I am a Registered Physiotherapist specialized in Women’s Health and Pelvic Health, currently in Toronto, Canada. I studied for 6 years at McMaster University to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, with a specialization in Physiology, as well as a Master of Science in Physiotherapy. Afterwards, I continued with ongoing training in Pelvic Health to become a certified Pelvic Health Physiotherapist. Growing up, I’ve always been extremely active and have picked up a random variety of sports including skiing, ultimate frisbee, and weightlifting. It was through these activities that I initially developed my passion for performance and rehab. Being someone who considered themselves pretty in tune with their body from all this, while also working towards a degree focusing on the human body, imagine my surprise when I was introduced to Pelvic Health and I realized there was so much I didn’t know about my own body. Since then, I became passionate about rewriting the current narrative society has of Women’s Health.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Me - As I began practicing in Pelvic Health, I noticed how there was a typical “picture” of what Pelvic Health looked like (think a pregnant woman doing kegels), and many of my clients with pelvic floor dysfunction didn’t feel like they fit this picture. I know I certainly didn’t. While I hope Pelvic Floor Training continues to grow to become a standard of care amongst pregnant and postpartum women (because surprisingly it still isn’t), it is also my hope that the picture of who Pelvic Health is for also expands to include the wide range of individuals who have pelvic floor dysfunction beyond perinatally. If you are having issues with your pelvic floor and haven’t been feeling seen by how Pelvic Health is commonly portrayed, I’m here to make you feel seen.</image:title>
<image:caption>My approach for treating each individual is unique because each individual is unique, so my goal is to work towards whatever your goal is. Do you want sufficient bladder control while you’re deadlifting 150lbs? Great. Or maybe just when lifting your newborn? Also great. Do you want to have pain-free intimacy with your partner? I want that for you, too. I believe that Pelvic Floor Training looks different on everyone, and each program should be specifically catered to the person and their lifestyle.</image:caption>
